Service Description
Violence Intervention Program (VIP)'s mission is to lead Latina victims of domestic violence to safety, empower them to live free of violence and reach and sustain their full potential. VIP operates three community-based programs in Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx, offering a broad spectrum of services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and their children. They provide ongoing safety planning, comprehensive case management and advocacy, and psycho-educational counseling to support survivor self-determination. Their Helpline counselors support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and connect them to all the programs VIP offers. Live, bilingual operators fluent in Spanish and English are available Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM. With the use of a telephone interpreter service, callers can receive assistance in various languages, including some indigenous languages from Latin America. If Helpline counselors are all busy, or the call is made outside of operating hours, callers will be provided with an option to leave a message.
